Anurag Kashyap quits Twitter after his family gets calls and threats
Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has quit microblogging site Twitter after his family was threatened because of his political views. According to reports, Anurag’s parents received threat calls and his daughter Aaliyah was threatened with rape. On deleting his handle, Anurag wrote in his last tweet, “When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats then you know no one wants to talk. There is going to be no reason or rationale. Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new India and hope you thrive.”
Screenshots of ace filmmaker’s last tweets have already gone viral on social media. In another Tweet, Anurag wrote, “Wish you all the happiness and success. This would be my last tweet as I leave Twitter. When I won't be allowed to speak my mind without fear, then I would rather not speak at all. Goodbye.”

Anurag Kashyap has often been vocal about his political views on social media where he was critical about the ruling government. He was even among the 49 big celebs who wrote to PM Narendra Modi about his concern over increasing lynching cases. He had written in his letter, “The lynching of Muslims, Dalits and other minorities must be stopped immediately. We were shocked to learn from the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) that there have been no less than 840 instances of atrocities against Dalits in the year 2016, and a definite decline in the percentage of convictions,”
Earlier congratulating PM Modi on his victory in the Lok Sabha elections, Anurag had tweeted how his daughter had been getting rape threats. He tweeted, “Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter,”
